HISTORY

91 years of passion

Hotel La Prairie 91 years fo passion in Crans-Montana

In 1930 that Sophie Mittaz-Couturier bought the pension “La Prairie”.

At the age of 33, she started a wonderful adventure with her sister, Virginie Mittaz and her 13-year-old daughter, Cécile Couturier.

THE SMALL PENSION

This small pension was surrounded by meadow and forest. There were goats, chickens, pigs, a cow and a large vegetable garden that enjoyed customers because only fresh produce was cooked there.
She was honored by the visit of French actor Fernandel.

THE PENSION BECOME A HOTEL

In 1962, Bernard Pichard, son of Cécile, took over the pension with his wife and decided to expand the pension to a hotel hosting a total of 30 rooms.
Today it’s their three daughters, Corine, Nadine, and Valérie who are running the hotel.

From a second marriage came Julien, who worked at the hotel until 2012.

RENOVATION

First in 1987 and then in 2008, some important restoration work has been done to the hotel. Bernard retired in 2011 after 49 years at the head of the hotel.
